Guarding the change

Editor: Comrades, let us rekindle the passion we felt for this ground-breaking campaign of LABOUR LOVE and turn out in large numbers on December 9 to repel/fend off the NDP, who are ready to “turn back the clock” at all costs, as they have said over and over. I am warning you that NDP is hoping to seize control of the Government for their individual and personal gains and for their selfish purposes and to settle a personal vendetta.{{more}}

You who are reading this, I need for you to go into your neighbourhoods, go to your workplaces and your churches, to the barber and beauty shops, into the villages and highways, the bars and restaurants, and the corner shops. Go and share the good news of what Labour has done and tell them too that we’ve got more work to do; the time for action is now. “It’s not the man, it’s the plan”….. to quote the late actor and activist Ossie Davis.

Comrades, let us not be mistaken; the other side has a plan too. It’s a plan to turn back the clock on every bit of progress we’ve made. The guys over there, those actors on the NDP stage, as the Opposition Leader once stated in Campden Park, want to take us backward. We want to move SVG forward. Do not be distracted by their devious and dangerous tactics and actions.

Oh, ye Pharisees, in your attempt to discredit the Prime Minister, you are destroying a country and its people. “Let you who are without sin cast the first stone.” Remember, you have cast the first one.

Comrades, what made the movement possible are people and warriors like so many of you. What made it possible for us to be in government and for SVG to be the nation state that it is today are ordinary Vincentians like you and Vincentians throughout our history who worked hard to make our country more inclusive and more just. As our Prime Minister always says “we are not better than none and none are better than us”. This is what we must continue to believe.

Labour loved you then, Labour loves you now and Labour will always love you.
