Reparations must be discussed objectively

Editor: I listened with rapt attention last Sunday evening to a repeat, on IKTV, of Professor Hillary Beckles being interviewed by Tony Regisford, on the issue of reparations.{{more}}

I had also listened to the debate in the Parliament on the motion moved by Senator Jomo Thomas on the same topic. In comparing the arguments proposed by Beckles and some of our parliamentarian particularly Messrs Leacock and Eustace, it occurred to me that very personal and puerile issues are not relevant.

The reparations issue is a regional and international matter and must be discussed objectively. Professor Beckles is obviously well placed, qualified and suited to lead the region on this and to guide the thoughts of the populace.
