Paying public deserves better

Tue, Oct 23, 2012

Editor: An email message came to my tv screen from Karib Cable informing that a new line-up was pending and that one should rescan to “enjoy” same, which I did. So, on October 1st, curious, I decided to take a look and noticed there were replacements for channels 15, 16, 17 and became so incensed and angry when I realised what had been done.{{more}}

For those of you who may not or don’t use your EPG buttons, located in the lower section of your remote, I should advise that you do. And when the company calls to ask how you are “enjoying the new line-up” you can answer them truthfully.

Personally, I hope they do not call, because I don’t think I’ll be as “polite” as I may be now.

Quite frankly, Karib Cable, you have gone to the now completely ridiculous and dare I say dishonest and disrespectful. How can you expect to pad your service and then have the audacity to ask if we are enjoying it!!

You have taken away the only three movie channels you’d allowed (I don’t count TNT, ISNT etc, because until I know how to speak and or interpret Spanish, the EPG guide is useless here, as are the verbal adverts on the channels themselves. We do live in an English speaking country in case you’d forgotten!) and have replaced them with regurgitation. Perhaps the enjoyment you’d predicted is supposed to come from us now playing with our remotes, deciding whether we wish to view CSI or NCIS etc on 15, 16, 17, instead of the older 34, 36, 20 something etc as before; all reruns of shows previously aired on their original prime time channels 10, 11, and 12, and others.

In fact, instead of updating our service, you have actually downgraded us to the element of trash as far as I would term it; and are now asking us to pay for, pay extra now for, channels which we had already been viewing for so long and paying for!

THAT to me is disrespectful. I think your paying public deserves better.

I am aware that everyone is feeling a financial crunch and if it were that you could no longer afford to allow us access to channels 15, 16, 17 at the cost we had been paying before, it would have been more respectful and mature to have been honest about it. But to have taken them away, expect us to pay so much more to view them now and then to have replaced them with regurgitation which one can already view in mixed combinations on channels 20, 22, 32, 36, 37 and perhaps others is downright absolutely disrespectful!

I thought and expected better of you.

Perhaps you need to take some moments to place yourselves in our shoes and really consider and imagine how you would feel if it were you; and then to add insult to injury you are phoning customers to ask about the same.

Really??!

I mean…

While there are many other words I would actually love to use to express myself I shall refrain, because this is public space.

Don’t know much about others, but, don’t bother calling me, because now you know how I feel.

Longstanding Paying Customer
