Congrats to the Questelles Government School
Tue, Jun 19. 2012
Editor: Congratulations to the graduating class of 2012 and the staff of the Questelles Government School. For the fourth consecutive year, the school has achieved a pass rate at the Common Entrance Examination above the nationâs average. This year, the school recorded a 64.8% success rate, that is, 24 of its 37 students were successful.{{more}} 8 of these would enter the esteemed halls of the St Vincent Grammar School and the Girlsâ High School, including 2 girls who achieved Form 1 Young Status.
Yes, it is a small school, but the Prep, Catholic, Windsor phenomena that pervades the visual media would not thwart it from trumpeting its own horn of success.
It is especially proud of Stanley, one of its challenged students, who ignored the odds stacked against him and decided that he was not going to be just another statistic, but a victorious one. Even before the National Inclusion Policy, the Questelles School has been educating all students, challenged or not, in the same classroom and Stanley is its second success in three years. Stanleyâs grade K-2 teachers laboured, developing his social habits; these were more important than the three Rs at the time. Mrs Chandler, God rest her soul, toiled hard in his vineyard, but even then, he was still inexpressive. But gradually, as he socially progressed through the system, the warm coal of his brain cells began to flicker. It took a long time to ignite into the flame that caused him to say âyes, I canâ.
Thank you students, Staff, past principals Ann Jones and Sharon Peters and all others who contributed to the success of the 2012 Graduating Class; you all did very well and we are proud of you.
