Congrats to Burnett, Bramble

Editor: I must compliment Mr Burnett and Mr Bramble for their tremendous contribution to the development of Female Cricket in this country. Mr Burnett has two teams playing in the current local competition, but what is significant, is that the Rising Star Team is a group of talented under 19 girls who love and are passionate about the game.{{more}}

They have not won many games thus far, but they are competing and challenging senior players for a position on the national team, with significant individual performances. This is exciting to see and it tells me if Mr Burnett can single handedly accomplish this with little, the SVG Cricket Board can do much more; sadly, they have no interest in Female Cricket development.

Last Saturday, I watched these girls play back to back T/20 games against the top two female teams in the country. It saddens my heart to hear the negative comments that came from a senior female “national” player and employee within the Ministry of Sports. This individual should have been doing what Mr Burnett is doing, and stop all the unhealthy, negative criticism of these young girls. It is not healthy for the sport, especially coming from a person in her position. I wish the girls all the best and I pray that they continue as a team and be an inspiration to other girls who have a desire to play the game. To Mr Burnett and Mr. Bramble – Well Done.
