Are we ready for God’s judgement?

Fri, Jun 11, 2010

Editor: What if God were to pour out judgement on his church? Are we prepared? God’s judgement can either be good or bad. To the church of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, we have been experiencing God’s goodness all these long years and what have we given him in return…nothing but pure heartache.{{more}}

When Jesus Christ was on earth he lived a perfect example of how we who are called by his name should live. Jesus is the father of love; he spared not his own perfect life but died for wretched sinners like us. Where I am going with this you may ask? Well, I am going back to the cross, and that is exactly what the body of Christ should do. We the body of Christ should be living examples, we should be the light, we have the truth, and we have the living hope residing in our midst…the man Jesus Christ and the holy spirit. The church is missing the fruits of the spirit; we are a tree that is not bearing fruit. Have we forgotten what Jesus said is done to any tree that dost not bring forth fruit in its season…it is hewed down and cast into the fire (Matthew 7:19).

We the church should love unconditionally, seeing that God took us up from the streets and transfigured us into his bride. Church, we need to love one another, not only in words but also in deeds. We need to fulfil the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2), or we would not be worthy to be called the children of God. Church, it is time we take up our role as the head and not the tail; stagnancy should not be seen amongst the body of Christ. If God’s Holy Spirit is to lead us into deeper levels, we have to go back to the cross and let him lead the way. The Church of Jesus in SVG is light in the midst of darkness, so therefore we need to overshadow the darkness, the darkness should not over shadow the light.

We who are called by God’s holy name need to respect our holy, perfect and righteous God. Have we forgotten God’s status and who we are representing? God is perfect and cannot dwell in unclean vessels. Therefore, we need to live our lives as he would want us to and not live it as the Pharisees; to be seen of men.

If we are to represent this loyal, perfect God without spot and blemish, we are to be holy as he is holy. How long do we want God to put up with our stagnancy and defilement? Church, we are not of this world, we are children of the kingdom of God, and so it is time we start taking up our role as the leaders and light of SVG. Stop quenching the holy spirit of God and go back to cross so that God will do as he pleases with us.

Stop fighting against each other (Ephesians 6:12) and instead build up each other. Each part of the body is responsible to help the other out. Stop behaving as the world and follow the practices and ordinances which our heavenly father gave us. Let God have his way. God is not mocked; whatsoever we sow that is what we are going to reap (Galatians 6:7). God is longsuffering, but God also is a God of judgement. Let it be that if God comes to judge his church it be for righteousness sake and not for unrighteousness.

Let God be pleased with us when he looks at his bride. Think about our loved ones, or children, our friends, do we want the wrath of God to come upon them without repentance? Then, church, be the shinning light, take control, lift up the name of Jesus that men will be drawn unto him. Bear one another’s burden and love each brother as ourselves. God is coming with judgement in his wings, but please let it be for righteousness sake, because if we are defiled when he comes he will not pardon because God is not a respecter of persons (Romans 2:11). Wake up ye sleeping giant and show forth the glory of the holy, righteous and perfect God in all the earth.
