Why aren’t the workers getting a fair wage?

Editor: Permit me to write on the issue of greedy businessmen and women in this society. It really hurts my heart to see persons go to work daily, work hard and still get nothing at the end of the day. The worse part is that the same business places receive huge sums of money on a daily basis. Why aren’t the workers getting a fair wage?{{more}} Why are they treated as if they don’t deserve to have anything? If someone asks their superior for a raise, their main excuse will be ‘These are tough economic times’. But you can see the superiors are getting all the benefits to travel whereever they please and living off the company, and still receive a huge salary at the end of the month. Why don’t they cut down their benefits by 15-20% and help others?

If they are having all of the benefits, don’t you agree that the workers should get benefits as well? Think about it. The book of Deuteronomy 24:14 says: “Thou shall not oppress a hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that are in they land within thy gates”. (KJV) Moses was speaking to the Israelites here, but it still applies to us today. God often warned Israel not to take advantage of the poor but to treat them with compassion and respect. Believers who fail to treat the poor and needy fairly will bring God’s condemnation upon themselves.

There is a reason for the economic crisis. God is speaking. There is a reason for the drought upon this land. God is speaking. People, I am asking you to get educated and familiarize yourself with the labour laws. Don’t let them fool you. We are all of value to God. Pray and fast that God would continue to speak. Unfair businessmen and women, be fair when you receive money, and God will bless you.
