Why aren’t nurses being appointed?
31.JULY.09
Editor: Many of our young ladies were trained and have qualified as nurses. However, it is unfortunate that many are still unemployed and this is something that must be addressed.{{more}}
It is understandable that all of them cannot be employed in the local service here and have to be employed abroad. But what can be depressing is the fact that some of them after completing their training were selected but not appointed as Nurses. They worked for some time as a nurse, then they were asked to reapply for the post. Over four months have passed since these ladies have reapplied and to this day they have not been reemployed. Surely something is wrong?
Is it that the funds which were used to pay them no longer exist? Is it that the government is low on funds? Surely, something is wrong. In the meantime, these ladies are still unemployed and need to survive.
It might be that some of these ladies can find employment elsewhere and in another country, but many of them have commitments here and want to serve their homeland. Is it that there are no more vacancies for qualified nurses? Surely, these ladies are waiting and need to know what is going on.
I hope that something is done sooner rather than later. Why select them after training then have them reapply again, when they should have been appointed as nurses?
