Contributory Fund for Airport good idea

Editor: The setting up of the Airport Contributory Fund is a great idea. Nations across the world are contributing to the construction of the Argyle International Airport. The government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is taking the lead and making a giant contribution on behalf of the people, but it is right and proper for ordinary Vincentians at home and abroad to make their own personal contributions, however small, to this massive national effort.{{more}}

We must always remember that many Vincentians have been calling for the setting up of this fund since the start up of the construction work last year. When our people have a personal stake in this project, the mater becomes truly national.

It is unfortunate that the Opposition and some of their talk show friends on radio are criticizing the Contributory Fund. Can’t these people ever see an issue beyond Ralph Gonsalves and the ULP? Are they so politically blind and un-necessarily divisive? Let us face it, almost all Vincentians want the government to build the International Airport.

I urge all Vincentians to make a contribution, however small. This is an act of patriotism for us, our children and grandchildren.
