What can we do to reduce crime?

Editor: Looking at the crime situation in this country has sparkled much debate. There are those who blame the government for not providing enough meaningful employment. This they say are the main cause of the crime situation in this country. However, a closer look at the crime situation will reveal something different.{{more}}

If we are honest and not politically biased we would realize that many of the murders and other capital crimes are as a result of the dangerous drug trade. Since there is no system where injustice is this area can be dealt with, many have resorted to taking the lives of others.

Revenge is also another cause for murders and other crimes. This is a cycle. So someone murders someone, that relative or friend of the victim then seeks revenge. The person who is then killed because of revenge, his friends and relatives then go and seek revenge on the killer/s. So the cycle continues.

There is much more that can be said, but for space and consideration to readers I will refrain from saying much more. Suffice it to say that it is sad that the Human Rights Association and lawyers are quick to defend the murderers and ensure that they are given proper treatment. Yet these same lawyers are not sympathetic with the victims. Even sadder is the fact that these human rights lawyers would be determined that their clients (the criminals) be given the freedom to listen or not listen to the gospel while in prison. Most of them do not listen to the gospel while in prison.

So tell me how can we stop the crime when we have left God out of our lives? Also, many persons who take matters into their hands and so will kill someone seem to think that there is little justice from the system since the lawyers seem to get them off. So when they kill they know the lawyers will help them.

Even in some cases, police are neglectful in dealing with cases that are reported and so individuals prefer to take matters into their own hands. Even the increased police brutality can drive fear and lack of trust in the police force, thus causing the civilians to rise and seek their own justice.

Let us as a nation work together. One thing that is certain is that the justice of God is slow but sure, and it is also fair.
