Eustace should apologise for gravedigger comment

Editor: I was utterly amazed with the recent diatribe that came from the Leader of the Opposition at a townhall meeting. Mr. Eustace, who advocates a kinder and gentler society, continues to show his true colours as a dictator who is arrogant, a great divider and politically unwise.

How on earth can he refer to former NDP representatives as gravediggers, when in fact they were the builders of the party that he has the good fortune to now lead?

Those who had to go abroad for a while or who are here and want to see the party restored to its former glory must not be treated as enemies. Mr. Eustace, you have now convinced me, and many others, that you fear persons who have greater political experience than you. You have not only become a victimiser but also a big coward, as most dictators usually are.

Let me remind you that the past representatives have made a greater contribution than you have, and if there is ever a gravedigger in the NDP, it is Arnhim Eustace. You and some of the present Executive do not know, or pretend not to know, of the sacrifices made by the former parliamentarians to build the NDP Headquarters and the general base of the party. In the days when Burton, Herbie, Jerry and Allan came forward when Sir James and the NDP were in opposition – you and some other opportunists would have scoffed at the idea.

I sincerely hope that you have the good sense to apologise for the remarks you made and make a positive move to unite the party, but I can only imagine you saying to Lynch that you will do no such thing.

If you cannot change your image, you have doomed the NDP for another failure.
