‘I’n’I, I wanna rule my destiny…DESTINY!…’

05.OCT.07

Editor: For the past four years, I made a conscious decision to ‘turn off’ from the ridiculous happenins goin’ on in this country by turnin’ on my radio and losin’ myself in dee musik. Even as I rite this, my radio blastin’ out, an I can feel my soul soarin’ HI above all dee crap, but my blud reech boilin’ point now, an ENUFF is ENUFF MAN!!!{{more}}….VAT, FUEL SURCHARGE, INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, CROSS COUNTRY ROAD, RAPE, EDUCATION REVOLUTION, GANJA ERADICATION, PETROGYLPHS DESTRUCTION, MEDICAL COLLEGE CLOSURE, MOKO, SUPPORTING JAPAN’S PLAN TO KILL WHALES IN THE SOUTHERN OCEAN WHALE SANTUARY, CRIME, GARBAGE…This list goes on and on like an over-stretched, dutty, stinkin’ rope designed to hang us all!

Evidently, the members of the Airport Committee see the petroglyphs as simple line drawings that hold no significance to our history and our heritage, and the sacred Escape Church and the Shrine at Yambou as being mere dispensable objects. Universally, historic churches and ancient sites are maintained and revered; they are virtually UNTOUCHABLE, in spite of supposed development advantages. The Committee fails to understand that the evocative Argyle is the LAST public open-air space that plays a major part in our lives, whether it is for us to learn to drive there, fly kites, fete, lime with our friends and family, stand and breathe deep the rich, healing, salt air to clear our heads, have our first kiss…This list lives on and on, LONG and STRONG, like all our navel strings joined together, pulsing to one heart beat!

Who makes the decision to destroy our GANJA plantations? Just barge into someone’s life and demolish everything they have. Light it ah fyah, destroying their livelihood, the earth and the atmosphere, becaws you say it is “illegal”! How would you feel if someone burnt YOUR office down? I can tell you that often behind those closed office doors is where you find the true meaning of illegal and NOT in the fresh open air.

Who makes the decision to keep the beasts who slaughtered Lokisha Nanton and Stacy Wilson, R.I.P sistrens, ALIVE and FAT with “our money”, while our justice system moves at snails’ pace? Apparently, we uphold the degradation of women in our society!

Since the implementation of VAT, the term “our money” now indisputably relates to EVERY SINGLE Vincentian; young, old, rich, poor, black, white, brown, and all ah we feeling blue!

I leeve you wid a heavy heart hummin’ to diss one – “…the rich man’s wealth is in the city, destruction of the poor is his poverty, destruction of your soul is vanity…I’n’I, I wanna rule my destiny…DESTINY!….”

Walk Good
