‘Texting’ keeping us informed

Editor: Text messaging is a very economical way of keeping in touch with friends and family, especially when they live overseas and down in the islands. But yesterday, when I tried to send a text message from an AT&T mobile to one belonging to Cable and Wireless within St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the message would not transmit. {{more}}
I was told later by Cable and Wireless that it was because they had not yet signed an agreement whereby text messages can be interchanged with other service providers – yet phone calls can!
Can some enlightened person please explain the benefits of cooperation in business to these narrow minded people?
