ANNOUNCEMENT

Eloise Phills

Age 89, Bronx, N.Y

Eloise Claristine Aroer Phills, nee Walker, 89, died Friday March 11, 2005, at the Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey. She was born on Friday 4, 1916, in St. Vincent, West Indies, and was the ninth of eleven children of James Henry and Millicent Valeria (Drayton) Walker. Following the death of her beloved husband, Charles Rupert Phills on September 4, 1954, Eloise worked at the St. Vincent Banana Growers Association. She emigrated to New York City Retirement System for 28 years.

Left to mourn are her children Artie Phills and wife Sylvanie; Cheryl King and husband Dr. Baldwin; Vincent Phills and wife Val; Asquith Phills and wife Christine; and Hazeldene Hercules and husband Wendell. Grandchildren include Reisha and Daryl Phills, Bryan, Dr. Cherene and Debra King, Janel and Jonathan Phills, Cameron and Adrian Phills, Michelle, Nicole and Colin Hercules, Nakia Eldridge, Charelle Sanford and Johnna James. Also left to mourn are her sister Edna Dougan in St Vincent and the Grenadines, sisters-in-law Leila Walker and Sarah Stephens. Also Carmen Phills, Marcia, Colville, Rochelle, Alicia and Shayne Richards, Andre, Carol, Andrea and Anthony Lewis, Jennifer and Kevin Browne and many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends including Doreen Walker-Ellis, Daphne Walker-Myers, Enid Walker-Alson, Ruth Walker-Marius, Carl Stephens, Dr. Bertram Stephens, Dr. Christian Stephens, Fred Stephens, Elsa Stephens-Jones, Harold Dougan, Raymond Dougan, Irma Dougan, Hugh Dougan, Carol Dougan, Errol Dougan, Denver Radix, Winnifred Douglas, Sonny Walker and Charles Hercules.

The viewing will be on Friday, March 18th, from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the McCallís Funeral Home, 4035 Bronxwood Ave., Bronx, New York 10466.

The funeral service will be on Saturday March 19, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 777 East, 222nd Street, Bronx, New York 10466.

Internment will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery at Webster Ave. and 233rd Street, Bronx, New York 10470 following the funeral service.
