Airlift and Accessibility- key areas of focus for the SVG Tourism Authority
The St Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority has identified airlift and destination accessibility as key areas of focus as it continues to work closely with industry stakeholders, regional partners, airlines, investors, and communities to strengthen the tourism product.
Shawn Sutherland, Acting Chief Operations Officer of the SVG Tourism Authority
This was disclosed by newly appointed Acting Chief Operations Officer of the SVG Tourism Authority Shawn Sutherland, who was speaking recently at the first press conference of the Ministry of Tourism.
“We continue to build on the opportunities created through air access and partnerships with regional and international carriers. Improved connectivity remains essential to tourism growth, investment, business travel, and visitor arrivals, and discussions remain ongoing to strengthen routes, frequency, and overall access into St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
“As an Authority, we are also placing greater emphasis on destination visibility and strategic tourism partnerships.”
This, Sutherland said, is being done through initiatives such as “Spirit of St. Vincent and the Grenadines”, “From Tracks to Tropics”, “I Love SVG”, “Go Grenadines” and “One Fest Canouan, ”as well as “leveraging global digital exposure opportunities, including the recent international attention generated through influencer and streaming platforms such as IShowSpeed, ISHOWSPEED, Below Deck Season 4, and Davidsbeenhere etc”.
Giving more details, Sutherland pointed out that these initiatives form part of a broader effort to modernise destination marketing, strengthen international visibility, and create more engaging tourism experiences for visitors.
