Child Month activities buttressed by prayer
THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION launched Child Month, 2026, with a prayer Breakfast, under the theme, “I belong. You belong. We all belong”.
Celebrated annually in May, the ceremony began with prayer and a worship session and included presentations by several pre-schools, all in keeping with the theme.
In opening remarks Senior Education Officer (Early Childhood Education), Ethny Williams reminded those present that every child is a gift from God, and are therefore deserving of love, guidance and opportunity.
Quoting from the Gospel of Mark, Chapter 10, verse 14, “Let the little children come to Me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these”, she emphasised that the verse, together with the theme, calls for the recognition that every child is a precious part of the community.
“Belonging is more than simply being present. It is being valued. It is a precious part of our community. It means being accepted and being loved. When children feel that they belong, they will flourish. They discover confidence in their identity, strength in their purpose and hope in their future,” she stated.
