Vincentian footballer shot to death in St Kitts
THE MOTHER of Shamarie ‘Boy Boy’ Baptiste, a 22-year-old Vincentian footballer who was shot dead earlier t his week in the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis is trying to come to grips with the fact that her firstborn, her “only son” is dead. And, Shamarie’s sister, is equally devastated by the loss of her older sibling.
Baptiste, who played Division 1 football in the St Kitts and Nevis Football Association Premier League was shot and killed at a bar in St Kitts in the wee hours of Monday, April 20, 2026.
His mother Sheria Baptiste, a mother of two, told SEARCHLIGHT that she migrated to St Kitts “ just for a better life for me and my children”.
She said that as a young mother, she tried to protect her children.
“It’s kind of very painful for me,” the grieving mother said by telephone.
“…it’s like, as a young mother-Shamarie is my first child. I had him young. He was a seven-month-old child, and his father was never really there, but I had the help of my family, also my mother, who was also a single mother,” Baptiste related.
