Man charged in the death of his father, granted bail
A Glen man has been granted bail for allegedly killing his father after striking and breaking his left foot with a piece of board.
Kyan Archibald,22, appeared at the Serious Offences Court before Chief Magistrate Colin John, on April 7, 2026 where he was charged that on March 29, 2026 at Glen he did unlawfully and maliciously cause grievous bodily harm to Cutburt Delon Archibald of Glen with intent so to do.
Kyan was not required to plea to the indictable offence. Prosecutor Renrick Cato, objected to his bail stating that the prosecution was still awaiting the autopsy report on Cutburt, who had died four days after the offence was committed.
Kyan was then remanded in custody. When he again appeared before the court on Thursday, April 9, 2026 the charge was uapgraded to that of manslaughter.
Kyan was then granted bail in the sum of $25,000 with one surety and he is to report to the Calliaqua Police Station once a week. The matter is adjourned to May 5, 2026.
