Penniston man jailed for possession of illegal firearm and ammunition
A MAN who resides in Penniston was sentenced to 39 months in prison after pleading guilty to illegally possessing one glock pistol, and 11 rounds of ammunition.
Orde Mctear, 41, appeared at the Serious Offences Court before Chief Magistrate Colin John, on March 31, 2026 where he pleaded guilty that on March 26, 2026 at Bower Mountain, Georgetown, he had in his possession 11 rounds of .40 ammunition without a license issued under the Firearm Act.
Mc tear also pleaded guilty to illegally possessing one Glock pistol, and 4.02 grammes of cocaine.
The facts are that on the date in question at about 6:00 a.m, PC 73 Jack was among a party of Rapid Response Unit(RRU) personnel on a joint operation headed by Station Sergeant John in Bower Mountain, Georgetown to conduct a search on a cannabis farm in a hut in respect of firearm/ammunition and controlled drug.
S/Sgt John met three males sleeping and woke them. The officer identified himself and the party of men to be police officers and informed them of their duties.
