Smart tells Cabinet he does not want work with the MOA

Gabriel ‘Webb’ Smart informed the Cabinet on Wednesday, October, 1 2025, that he does not want a full time job with the Ministry of Agriculture. He related to SEARCHLIGHT what he told the Ministers during a presentation at Cabinet Room that day.

Instead, he said he told the Cabinet that he wishes to operate a food stall business near the Sans Souci beach, with the support of the government where he can sell fresh fruits and vegetables from the farmers in the community. Smart braved the treacherous sea at Sans Souci on Sunday, September, 21, 2025 to rescue 12-year-old Kishorn Pope from drowning. And while at Cabinet Room on Wednesday, he said he recounted the encounter to them.

As a result of Smart’s stated desire, the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines “will also be providing the support so that he can have his gears, his fins, so that if a situation like this is to happen again, he will be ready,” Minister of Agriculture, Saboto Caesar stated.
