Vincentian woman killed, allegedly by Jamaican boyfriend in Canada

A Vincentian woman was stabbed to death, allegedly by her Jamaican boyfriend, in a Brampton apartment building in Canada on Tuesday morning March, 11, 2025.

The woman has been identified as Nieshia Sam, a 42-year-old mother of two, originally from Argyle, St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). She migrated to Canada about 10 years ago.

According to the online publication the Toronto Star, Peel police said a man was in custody after a stabbing. He was detained after police responded to a call near Kennedy Road and Chamney Court just after 8:40 a.m. Tuesday.

“A woman in her 40s was rushed to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition but was pronounced dead a short time later. A male suspect, who was known to the victim, was found nearby,” the Toronto Star reported.

Reports are that a child was in the apartment when Sam was stabbed and called 911.
