Temporary Paget Farm Primary School to open next Monday

The Paget Farm Primary School on Bequia will be fully operational with all students back in the classroom by Monday, September 30, 2024. Final touches are currently underway to ensure the school’ s readiness.

Deputy Director of Grenadines Affairs, Carlos Williams, said the anticipation among students, staff, and the wider community is palpable, as the school prepares to welcome its full student body and staff on September 30, 2024.

Williams said despite challenges such as ongoing rains, contractors have successfully collaborated to complete a temporary structure within a short time frame ensuring the school is safe and ready for this academic term. The Paget Government School was badly damaged by Hurricane Beryl on July 1, and there are plans to build a new school. In the interim, a temporary building is being constructed on the same grounds as the original school to accommodate all the students and staff. Grade 6 began classes in the Bequia Library on September 16; they will be transferred to the new temporary building on Monday.(API)
