Man ordered to compensate his ex after beating her with cutlass

A 34 year old man of Lowmans Hill was bonded and ordered to compensate his ex girlfriend $2000 after he beat the woman with a cutlass and badly cut four of her fingers.

The compensation has to be paid by August 31 and he is bonded for one year in the sum of $2500. If in breach he will have to pay forthwith or go to prison for one year Michael Bynoe pleaded guilty to a charge of grievous bodily harm on Judy Jackson of Lowmans Hill when he appeared at the Serious Offences Court on June 20;

According to the facts presented by Sergeant Atnel Ash, Bynoe and Jackson know each other very well of Lowmans Hill when he appeared at the Serious Offences Court on June 20;

According to the facts presented by Sergeant Atnel Ash, Bynoe and Jackson know each other very well as they were in a common law relationship for two years, but that relationship ended in October, 2022.

Ash said that on May 14, 2023, at approximately 2:30 a.m Jackson was at Kelly and Coolie’s shop in Lowmans Hill hanging out and dancing with some friends when she heard someone say “look Michael”, but she didn’t pay any mind because she knew that they were no longer in a relationship.

When the complainant exited the shop she was immediately approached by Bynoe who shoved an unknown object in her face.

Jackson pushed Bynoe’s hand away, and he slapped her on the right side of her face, knocking her to the ground. She tried to get up and others who were there immediately went and held on to her. Jackson demanded to be released and said that she refused to take any lashes.

She went over to Bynoe’s yard and inquired why he had hit her. However, Bynoe went into his house, returned with a cutlass, and held on to Jackson’s head.

The woman held on to the cutlass as she believed Bynoe was going to chop off her head. The defendant then pulled the cutlass from Jackson telling her to “let go the %*#@ cutlass”, cutting all the fingers on her left hand except her thumb. They required stitches.

He then pushed Jackson to the ground and started beating her about her body with the cutlass; he didn’t stop until he saw his cousin watching.

Bynoe’s cousin assisted Jackson by handing her her crutches which her ex had thrown into the public road.

Jackson was later taken to seek medical attention and Bynoe was arrested and charged.
