Ottley Hall teen pleads not guilty for wounding fellow villager, granted bail

A resident of Ottley Hall appeared at the Serious Offences Court on April 3 where he pleaded not guilty to stabbing a fellow villager with a pair of scissors.

Lester Jessop,18, stands accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Lemron Mason of Ottley Hall whom he is alleged to have stabbed on his neck and left shoulder on December 2, 2022.
Mason was taken to the hospital but was subsequently treated and discharged.

Sergeant Atnel Ash did not object to bail for Jessop but he asked for sufficient surety- that the defendant makes no contact with the virtual complaint, and that he be placed on a curfew.
The police officer also requested of the court that the matter be adjourned and transferred to the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court.

Chief Magistrate, Rechanne Browne granted bail in the sum of $4000.00 with one surety. Jessop was ordered to have no contact with Mason and he was placed on a 7:00 p.m to 6:00 a.m curfew.

He is also to report at the Central Police Station every Friday between 6:00 a.m- 6:00 p.m.

The matter was adjourned and transferred to the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court to be heard on May 22.

Jessop’s girlfriend appeared in court to sign surety for him, however she did not have the necessary documents to do so. As a result, he was remanded until surety is secured.
