Alex, Abberdean are top performers for St Martin’s Secondary

ALEX CHAHDA and Abberdean Williams, with nine passes each, are the two top performers of the St Martin’s Secondary School in the May/June 2022 sitting of the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC).

The school, in a release said the 2021/ 2022 cohort of students was “arguably the lot which was most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the explosion of …La Soufriere volcano.

“Despite the challenges, the staff and students managed to achieve a pass rate of 80.95 per cent at the May/June CSEC exams sitting.”

The school had the fifth highest pass rate in St Vincent and the Grenadines for 2022.

The all-boy school recorded 100 per cent passes in 11 subject areas.

A further 11 subjects recorded passes in excess of 60 per cent.

“There are a few areas of concern which we endeavour to improve,” the release said.

This year, 46 students sat 385 exams in 26 subject areas.

The school said it is “satisfied with the efforts of the students, teachers, and parents of the examination class”.
