Woman was strangled to death – Autopsy report

The police have revealed that a post mortem on the body of Veronica ‘Keisha’ Small concluded that she was strangled to death.

The Public Relations Department of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) yesterday, August 29 indicated that the autopsy, which was conducted last week, indicated that Small died as a result of “asphyxiation by manual strangulation.”

According to merriam-webster.com, asphyxiation is “a lack of oxygen or excess of carbon dioxide in the body that is usually caused by interruption of breathing and that causes unconsciousness.”

Sciencedirect.com says manual strangulation is where “the perpetrator uses his hand to encircle and compress the front and side of the neck.

“It is a common method of homicide, most often encountered when the physical size and strength of the assailant exceeds that of the victim,” the website said.

Small’s body was found in the early hours of Thursday morning, August 25 lying on the tarmac of the decommissioned E.T Joshua Airport close to a container.

She was in a state of partial undress. The police have also confirmed that “a piece of PVC” pipe was inserted into her body.
