Gonsalves, Taiwan ambassador hold talks on redeveloping boxing plant

Prime Minister, Dr Ralph Gonsalves said he is currently having discussions with the Ambassador of Taiwan to St Vincent and the Grenadines, Peter Lan, for the redevelopment of the old banana boxing plant and arrowroot factory at Belle Vue.

Yesterday Thursday, March 10 Prime Minister Gonsalves headed a team comprising government and Taiwanese officials on a visit to the site near Colonaire.

He said on NBC Radio on Wednesday, March 9 that he is discussing the matter with the Taiwanese to see if there can be a preliminary input.

The Prime Minister said something can be allocated in the 2023 Budget for the project, which may include culture and the performing arts.

It was in mid-February that he spoke of plans to upgrade the two dilapidated buildings which are located in North Central Windward the constituency which Gonsalves represents in Parliament.
