Vincentian Designer Featured On International Podcast

VINCENTIAN FASHION Designer Kimya Glasgow has been featured on the international podcast – Shifting Perspectives with Yolande Robinson.

Yolande Robinson is a Canadian of Caribbean descent, and the daughter of Vincentian – Hazel Thompson Pompey. She currently resides in Turks & Caicos.

Kimya is the founder, creative director and head designer of the Kimya Glasgow brand. She was born in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and grew up in Trinidad and Tobago, of both Vincentian & Trinidadian descent. She holds an Associate Degree in Fashion Design from the Barbados Community College.

Glasgow has shown collections in Miami Fashion Week, Dominicana Moda, Caribbean Fashion Week in Jamaica, Fashion Week Trinidad & Tobago, Tobago Fashion Week, Barbados Fashion Week, St Kitts Fashion Weekend and has shown in Mustique, St Lucia, Toronto and New York, with a solo showing in Martinique and has shown repeatedly at Fashion Caribbean, St Vincent & the Grenadines’ premier fashion event.

Started in May 2020, the Shifting Perspectives weekly podcast challenges women “to fuel themselves with diversity about the way they think, the way they work, the way they parent and the way they live their lives.”

Yolande is an educator by profession with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology from McGill University. She is an entrepreneur, educator and life coach, now turned podcast journalist.

The interview with Kimya Glasgow is the 37th in the podcast series, which has included previous guests like accomplished Canadian Actress/Writer/Producer Trey Anthony from the popular Canadian TV show – Da Kink In My Hair.

The episode with Glasgow is an honest and intimate portrait of her as a Caribbean entrepreneur. In the podcast they discuss her journey into the fashion world and now into the world of fragrances, as the first Caribbean fashion brand to produce a signature scent. The conversation

includes her life experiences, as well as the power of manifestation, exploring the idea of following passions, building resilience and developing the skill of ‘bounce back’.

Especially during this global pandemic, it is so important to stay positive, but it is also important to show that you can make it through disappointments and failures.
