Vincentian students visit Venezuelan Cultural Institute

As part of the cultural promotion policy of the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), the Venezuelan Institute for Culture and Cooperation “Hugo Chávez Frías” received a group of students from the George Stephens Senior Secondary School with the objective of sharing several aspects of the Venezuelan homeland.

Francisco Pérez Santana, head of the Venezuelan Mission at SVG, welcomed the students, and took the opportunity to talk with them about the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution to the homeland of Bolívar.

Andreína Bermúdez, Coordinator of the Venezuelan Institute for Culture and Cooperation “Hugo Chávez Frías” spoke with the students about the history of Venezuela, and the independence struggles, led by Liberator Simón Bolívar, she spoke about the heroes of the Venezuelan homeland to the arrival to the Presidency of the Commander Hugo Chávez Frías; and the continuity of the Bolivarian Revolution in the hands of President Nicolás Maduro.

Bermudez, showed the students through videos, photographs, songs and an exhibition of indigenous crafts and objects, part of the culture and traditions of Venezuela; Venezuelan culinary culture such as: arepas, empanadas, hallacas, ham bread, Creole pavilion, tizana, , among others, and highlighted the similarity between both cultures.

The students of the George Stephens Secondary School got to learn about the different dates and traditions celebrated in Venezuela, enjoyed Venezuelan music, singing and playing of instruments such as the cuatro, the maracas and the drum, in addition, they had the opportunity to enjoy the short film “the blackberry and the fire beetle ”.

These tours are part of the policy of the Diplomacy of Peace of the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela that allows the continuation of the promotion of the history, culture and traditions of the Venezuelan people.
