Vincentian students of the Venezuelan Cooking Workshop participate in the Vincy Expo 2019

The Vincentian students of the Venezuelan Cooking Workshop of the Venezuelan Institute for Culture and Cooperation Hugo Chávez Frías participated in the Everything Vincy Expo as part of the cultural activities carried out in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the independence of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Along with members of the Venezuelan diplomatic mission in St Vincent and the Grenadines, the students made samples of Venezuelan cuisine through the preparation of various dishes such as: Chicken arepas, meat arepas, ham filled crescents, chicken salad, cachapas (Venezuelan corn cake), patacones (fried green plantains), quesillo (Venezuelan flan)and tizana (Venezuelan fruit cocktail), which were distributed among more than 200 attendees of the exhibition.

The gastronomic stand of Venezuela was the busiest among Vincentians and visitors from countries such as Denmark, New Zealand, Nigeria and Cuba, among others, who tasted Creole dishes and its variety of flavours.

Spanish students who receive weekly cooking classes put into practice the knowledge acquired for the preparation of each of the dishes presented at this very important activity. This experience is based on the maximum learning by doing, starting from the strengthening of pedagogical, cultural and political practices from the teaching of Castilian and Venezuelan culture, contextualized in the strategic and political direction of the Venezuelan diplomatic mission on the island and hence of the Bolivarian Revolutionary Government.

The Everything Vincy Expo is a space where local businessmen show their products and services to the Vincentian public; present were exponents from several Caribbean countries such as St Kitts and Nevis, Guyana, Trinidad, Saint Lucia and Grenada; In addition to the participation of diplomatic representations such as Venezuela. The objective of this exhibition that takes place every year is to highlight the customs and traditions of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
