FLOW refutes ‘overpriced, under powered and unreliable’ remarks

Wayne Hull, the general manager of telecommunications company, FLOW has refuted claims made by this country’s telecommunications minister that their service is “overpriced, under powered and unreliable”.

At a press briefing in October, Camillo Gonsalves said that while the numbers were skyrocketing, FLOW had not invested in upgrading the network to deal with the heavier traffic.

And he said that the service being provided by the telecommunications company was unacceptable.

But Hull, at a press conference this week, announced the company’s thrust to upgrade speeds on various network packages free of charge to the customer.

The general manager added that he did not agree entirely with the statements made by Gonsalves.

“I wouldn’t agree with him 100 per cent on that. I think… we are competitively priced in terms of broadband. We also have to look at the scale of St Vincent and the fact that the investments needed to cover a terrain such as St Vincent and sometimes we don’t understand that we sit in the middle of an ocean,” he said.

“We are not 100 per cent happy with the speeds the customers are getting and this is why we made the investment, made the upgrades and this is why today, we are giving people more speed for free without any extra cost to the bill.”

Hull said that the upgrade will impact over 80 per cent of the customers in St Vincent and the Grenadines. He also expressed belief that the company was “on the right path to getting the service to the level that we want it to be and the level that the customers expect”.
