VINLEC continues to reach out to Caribbean neighbours
St Vincent Electricity Services Limited (VINLEC) continues to reach out to neighbouring countries that were ravaged by hurricanes in the past weeks.
VINLECâs latest outreach is to the Commonwealth of Dominica. The company has donated canned foods, toiletries, tarpaulins, baby supplies and other items valued at EC$15,000 to the Government and people of that country.
According to the companyâs communications officer, Tamara Job-Sprott, VINLEC stands firm with those impacted during the recent hurricanes. She says this latest initiative is in keeping with the companyâs promise of providing service beyond the lines and poles. She says that VINLEC understands how natural disasters can impact the lives of people and is providing this aid to help to ease the suffering of the people. Earlier this month, VINLEC sent relief supplies to the British Virgin Islands.
Job-Sprott also indicated that VINLEC is providing technical support to the British Virgin Islands. She noted that a five-member team from Ruddyâs Electrical Contracting Company Limited, under the direction of Alston Scott â line supervisor at VINLEC, left for the British Virgin Islands last weekend. This team will assist with the restoration of electricity in that territory. This undertaking is being financed by St Vincent Electricity Services Limited. VINLEC also has a five-member team in Anguilla assisting with the restoration of electricity.
The company continues to work with CARILEC to provide assistance to other affected islands.
