CIBC/FCIB staff assists with The Salvation Army’s Kettle Appeal

Staff members of CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank took time out of their busy Christmas schedules to assist the local Salvation Army in their annual Christmas kettle appeal.

Just before the Christmas holidays, the staff at the Halifax Street, Kingstown branch, took turns ringing the familiar small bell, and solicited donations at the bank’s entrance.{{more}} The bank also made a contribution to the organization, which uses the funds raised over the Christmas season to provide food and clothing to the less fortunate, as well as for the maintenance of its various institutions, such as its daycare centre and orphanage.

Jacintha Hinds, Business Support officer and Employee Engagement champion at CIBC FCIB, said that the staff decided to get actively involved in the process.

“Instead of just making a donation to The Salvation Army, we wanted to play a role in helping to get others to contribute to the cause. It was certainly a new experience for most of us and we looking forward to helping The Salvation Army in any way that we can in the future,” Hinds pointed out.

“Like The Salvation Army, our main goal is serving others,” she added.

Head of the local Salvation Army Major Pierre Antoine said that he was grateful for the gesture made by the bank’s staff.

“We are very appreciative and grateful for First-Caribbean bank for taking time out to appeal to others to give to us, and also for the donation that they made to us.

“We are also grateful for the kind contributions made by other organizations and individuals over the season, but of course, we are still looking to meet our target, which is approximately $100,000.

The 2016 Salvation Army kettle appeal comes to an end on December 31, and both Antoine and Hinds are pleading for those who have not yet contributed to the effort, to do so by giving generously.
