Palm Beach Mansion to host event for flood victims

This Sunday, Palm Beach Mansion in Colonarie will host an event where the proceeds will go towards persons who suffered losses during the trough system that affected this country on November 28 and 29.

The event is being put on by a group calling themselves the North Windward Reach Out Committee, which was created specifically to host Sunday’s event.

According to a member of the committee, Jason Rodriguez (owner of Palm Beach Mansion),{{more}} this country has experienced a significant amount of rainfall that severely impacted and damaged various parts of the island and during a foot tour from Rabacca to Sandy Bay, he noticed the great loss of many homes, businesses and livelihoods.

“After witnessing the devastation first-hand, Palm Beach Mansion has decided to host an event to assist persons affected by the floods. The committee consists of eight members dedicated to helping persons in need, especially with the holidays quickly approaching,” said Rodriguez on Monday.

The event comes in the form of a concert at Palm Beach Mansion this Sunday, December 11. It will begin at 7 p.m. and admission will be granted by providing non-perishable food items, toiletries and clothing (preferably new).

Rodriguez stressed that no monetary contributions will be accepted and persons wishing to make donations who cannot attend the concert may do so at Harmony Investors Supermarket and Gas Station at Peruvian Vale or Country Grocery in Georgetown. Drop-offs can also be made at the Surf Side Restaurant in Villa and at the Palm Beach Mansion.

Palm Beach Mansion will be open on the day of the event from 11 a.m. until. Persons unable to get to a drop-off location may call committee members Jason Rodriguez at 496-4205 or Michelle Dabriel at 491-7894 to coordinate pick-ups.

“The North Windward Reach out Committee would like to extend our sincerest gratitude and appreciation to all the persons/organizations who have contributed and/or planning to contribute to this very worthy cause. We welcome anyone wanting to join us in making a difference,” said Rodriguez.

Sunday’s event will see performances by 15 local disc jockeys and artistes including “Keido”, “First Lady”, the Soca Dans and “Recker”. (LC)
