MCMH receives over $100,000 worth of medical supplies

Over $100,000 worth of medical supplies were donated to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH).

The donations were made by the Saint Matthias Charity Incorporated at the MCHM on Friday, September 16.

Four anesthesia machines, 20 used wheelchairs and 40 walkers were some of the donations made to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCHM) and the local health centres across the island.{{more}}

Speaking at the handing over, president of the foundation Robert McBarnette stated that apart from donations made to the MCHM, donations were also made to the health centres throughout St Vincent and the Grenadines.

“It is our hope that we would be able to cover the entire country, and we would continue to work in St Vincent and the Grenadines,” McBarnette said.

He noted that they recently donated $20,000 worth of medical supplies to Grenada and supplies were also donated to Haiti and Jamaica.

“We are hoping that we can even broaden our horizon and go beyond and touch other countries in the region, but St Vincent and the Grenadines continues to be close to our heart,” he noted.

McBarnette noted that he is looking forward to a continued relationship with the Ministry of Health. He also disclosed that donations were made to Louis Punnett Home and the Mental Health Centre.

Also speaking at Friday’s handing over, Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture Cecil McKie noted that he is appreciative of organizations such as these in helping the Government meet the needs of Vincentians.

“It is important for us to collaborate and partner with as many entities as possible, both here in St Vincent and the Grenadines and oversees, to assist us in meeting these needs and these demands,” McKie noted.

He stated that he is also appreciative of all the hard work that goes into making these donations happen. (CM)
