‘Come Find Me’ group donates to Special Children

The School for Children with Special Needs are the thankful recipients of some much needed school supplies, thanks to the generosity of a group called ‘Come Find Me’.

The organization, created to give back to needy persons, especially children, visited the Fern Side-based school on September 8, where they handed over, among other things, stacks of paper, bottles of glue, pencils and books.{{more}}

Addressing the school’s children and staff during the donation, Come Find Me’s vice-president Neka Anthony said that the group is here for children in need. She revealed that it was founded earlier this year by Alicia Joseph-Bibby, a Vincentian living in Tortola.

“She wanted to give back, so she founded this group… We are passionate to share with others,” said Anthony, who added that the donation to the School for Children with Special Needs was designed to give a “head start” to the teachers and students, seeing the term has just started.

“This is just a little boost and we hope to be back, as it is the start of a relationship,” explained Anthony, who also noted that the possibility exists that the next donation will be a monetary one.

The items handed over to principal Naseem Smith were donated by businesses in Tortola.

Smith, thanking the group, said that the school was glad that they were chosen to be the first recipient of Come Find Me’s generosity.

“We are honoured to be part of this kind gesture and I challenge them to also give of their time and return to interact with the children, said Smith and added that the stationery was welcomed, as the students use a lot of paper and pencils.

Come Find Me also used the opportunity to make a monetary donation to Randolph Williams. According to Anthony, Williams has medical expenses and the donation is expected to help with that.

“We also want to help to support persons with medical problems who cannot make it on their own,” explained Anthony.

Williams thanked the group for their kind gesture.

Also present at the handing over were,president of Come Find Me Jethora Bailey,secretary Orlicia King and public relation officers Joel Bute and Anthony Bibby.
