CXC issues new, revised, amended syllabuses

The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) had issued new, revised and amended syllabuses that have effective teaching dates beginning September 2016.

The new CAPE syllabuses are Green Engineering, Financial Services Studies, Animation and Game Design. The revised CAPE syllabuses are Food and Nutrition and Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology.{{more}} The following CAPE syllabuses were amended: Accounting, Art and Design, Caribbean Studies, Entrepreneurship, Management of Business, Sociology, Geography and Economics.

The revised CSEC syllabuses are Mathematics and Agricultural Science. Private tutors of CSEC Mathematics are particularly asked to note that private candidates are required to write Paper 032, an Alternative Paper to the SBA. The Alternative Paper will assess the candidate’s acquisition of skills in the same areas of the syllabus identified for the SBA.

The CSEC syllabuses that were amended are Electronic Document Preparation and Management, Caribbean History and Theatre Arts.

The Ministry of Education in a release asked all heads of educational institutions, teachers and private candidate tutors to ensure that they are aware of the changes to the syllabuses and that they have copies of the relevant syllabuses for their use.
