Britain’s Armed Forces recruiting Commonwealth nationals

The British Government has waived its residency requirements to allow 200 Commonwealth citizens per year to fill roles in the regular forces. In a written statement on May 13, 2016, British Defence Minister Penny Mordaunt said there was a âlong traditionâ of soldiers from Commonwealth nations serving in the British military, noting that âWe (the UK) continue to value their service which provides an important contribution in defending the UK at home and abroad.â
The roles that are available for nationals from the nation states within the Commonwealth, including St Vincent and the Grenadines, are:
o Engineer Logistics Specialist
o Gunner Logistics Specialist
o Marine Engineer
o Petroleum Operator
o Vehicle Mechanic
o Recovery Mechanic
o Metal Smith
o General Fitter
o Chef
o Logistics Supply Specialist
o Medical Technician
o Musician
o Registered nurse
