FLOW signs exclusive broadcast partnership in eight Caribbean markets

Flow, the region’s leading provider of innovative cable and broadband enabled services, has turned up the heat with the latest addition to its extensive array of channel offerings – the launch of FEVA TV.

This new and exciting TV offer will be available – with the basic packages at no extra cost – exclusively in eight Flow TV markets across the region, starting on July 17.{{more}}

The eight Flow TV markets set to air FEVA TV include Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Curacao, Grenada, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, St Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines.

FEVA TV (First Entertainment Voice of Africa) features high quality content from Africa and the African diaspora in North and South America, the Caribbean and Europe. FEVA TV’s programming includes ‘Nollywood’ films from Nigeria’s burgeoning film industry, the world’s third largest, following Hollywood and Bollywood. The channel also features music videos and programming in Reggae, Soca, the Afro-Beat, Hip Hop, Samba genres, as well as documentaries, concerts, variety shows, drama series, comedy shows and sports programmes.

Since its successful launch in Canada last year, FEVA TV has attracted a significant following. Among the series of high quality international programmes on offer, FEVA TV airs Planet Nollywood, a showcase of top quality Nollywood films; “Under 30,” a drama series about the exploits of urban, sophisticated, Under-30-year-old ladies in Lagos, Nigeria, in their pursuit of finding a husband before they turn 30 years old in order to conform with local tradition.

Another drama series in the FEVA staple is “Shuga.” This riveting series highlights the sex life and relationships of youth in Africa with a view to promoting HIV/AIDS prevention and correct misconceptions surrounding the disease in Africa.

The irrepressible ladies of “Lekki Wives” drama shows the daily lives of five housewives in Lekki, an affluent suburb in Lagos, as they scheme, cheat and sacrifice in order to maintain appearances of having “made it.”

In addition, FEVA TV presents hot exclusive programming, such as Jam’Balaya, an engaging programme featuring people on the streets around the world talking about their favourite music, Reggae/Dancehall, Afrobeat, Soca, Hip-Hop and R&B videos; the original production “Riddim Chat” is an interview show with Yanique, the curvy diva, as she gets music stars in the Reggae, Soca and other African-inspired music genres to disclose nuggets about their lives that are often not in the public domain. Of course, the 30-minute show is inter-spiced with the artistes’ best music videos; 360 Feva, a showcase of celebrities from Africa, the Caribbean, North and South America and their favourite videos; and Sooooo Special with Master T, in which the Canadian broadcasting icon interviews music legends from around the world.

According to FEVA TV chair, Capt (Dr) Idahosa Wells Okunbo, “FEVA TV’s expansion into the Caribbean not only exemplifies FEVA’s mandate of propagating black, African and Caribbean entertainment and culture, but also provides a gateway for FEVA’s push into other natural markets in the United States, Africa and South America. As a Canada-based, 24-hour black television network, we are proud of FEVA TV’s role in bringing Caribbean, black and African people together through entertainment.”

In welcoming FEVA TV to Flow’s Caribbean channel line-up, John Reid, C&W’s Consumer Group president said, “The addition of FEVA TV to our existing array of high quality programming is a further demonstration of our commitment to place the customer at the heart of what we do. As we refresh and rebrand Flow across the region, we are transforming the way our customers experience our products and services with the introduction of TV everywhere, enabling viewers to watch TV on any device, anywhere, anytime.”

Reid added, “This boost to the Flow channel line-up coupled with a slew of product innovations and enhancements, such as customized interactive Advanced Video Services (AVS); Video on Demand advanced parental control and the new cloud Personal Video Recorder are all indicative of the high level of enriching experience that we provide as we focus on the needs of our customers.”

“Our valued viewers have discerning taste and we are providing unique content and services that are relevant and relatable with high entertainment value,” John Reid also said.
