Funeral held for man whose body was recovered from sea

Hundreds turned up on Sunday at Petit Bordel for the funeral service and burial for Glenroy ‘Casual’ Delpesche, whose body was recovered, along with that of Brian Baptiste, at Trois Loups Bay on June 25.

Young men jostled to carry the casket of the 25-year-old, {{more}}as they paraded throughout the small community to music from the Rose Bank Classic Drummers, weeping and cheering as they went along.

The funeral service for 49-year-old Baptiste, the other man whose body was recovered, was held last Wednesday at the Chateaubelair New Testament Church of God. The funeral service was followed by a modest procession to the Fitz-Hughes cemetery with the Rose Bank Classic Drummers also in attendance.

Police said post mortem examinations performed on the bodies concluded that both men died of asphyxia, due to drowning. The pathologist also noted that there were no signs of physical injury on the dead men.

Relatives of Delpesche and Baptiste reported them missing on June 24, claiming that they had gone fishing on June 23 and had not returned.

A third person, Charles Walker, 36, of Chateaubelair, is also reported to have gone fishing with the duo.
