‘I always push myself to be the best at everything I do’ – Munroe

For Jeshari Munroe, earning a place among the top 10 in the 2015 Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA) is proof that all the extra work she put in was worth it.

Munroe was one of three students from the St Mary’s Roman Catholic School to earn top ten positions. She placed seventh for girls and 10th overall.{{more}}

In an interview with SEARCHLIGHT this week, the excited 11-year-old stated that she never expected to place so high. Munroe attained 94 per cent for Mathematics and Science and 90 per cent for English.

“I think it’s because I did extra work and I always push myself to be the best at everything I do. If I see someone struggling, I will help them because that will also help me. It’s also because I trust in God and anytime I need help, I would ask him for help and he would help me and bring me through all situations,” she said.

Describing herself as hardworking and intelligent, the daughter of Amoy Munroe and Theodore Jr Browne explained that she used the Internet and past papers to prepare for the CPEA examinations. She also revealed that she would often go to her workbook or textbook once a topic was taught in class so that she was always ahead in her work.

Munroe, a swimmer and dancer, took the opportunity to encourage younger students to work hard so that they can be successful.

“Push yourself to be the best, but between you have to play and relax and pray to God and he will help you,” she said.

The 11-year-old hopes to attend the Girls’ High School in the coming school year and aspires to be a paediatrician, lawyer or veterinarian.(BK)
