LIME and RSVGPF spread powerful message

Telecommunications provider LIME is partnering with this country’s police force to bring a message of peaceful coexistence to secondary school students in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

So far, LIME representatives and members of the Major Crimes Unit (MCU) of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force{{more}} have made two of four planned visits to secondary schools, in their “Zero Tolerance Against Crime School Tours.”

Last week, they made stops at the Sandy Bay and Georgetown Secondary schools on the Windward side of the island, and Petit Bordel and the Central Leeward Secondary on the Leeward end.

The unit will take its message to the students of the North Union Secondary, St Clair Dacon Secondary, Dr JP Eustace Memorial Secondary, and Intermediate High Schools this week.

During the visits, members are speaking with students, encouraging them to practise safe and healthy lifestyles, especially for the upcoming Carnival season, when many of this country’s youngsters are more vulnerable to sexual and physical assaults, alcohol and drug use, and gang related activities.

The officers are giving tips on how to avoid becoming perpetrators and victims of illicit activities, and are urging the students to stay on the right side of the law at all times.

Following the presentations, questions are asked of the students, who receive LIME goodies for their correct answers. A student from each school will receive a smart phone.

Also making appearances at the events are the LIME Carnival ambassadors, who entertain the students, and also plead with the country’s future men and women to be law-abiding, safety conscious and peaceful individuals.
