Out of Love for Ancia Group hands over funds to kidney patient

Following a fund-raising barbecue, the group ‘Out of Love for Ancia’ has handed over the funds raised to kidney patient Ancia Williams.

In the April 21, 2015 edition, SEARCHLIGHT reported that the group was formed after it was discovered that a former classmate was experiencing difficulty in paying for her kidney dialysis {{more}} — which costs $500 per treatment.

On Friday, May 15, some EC$3,674 was handed over to Williams, a Belair resident. These funds were raised by former classmates at a barbecue, held on April 30.

The group is planning other fund-raising events, which include cake and food sales, a prayer breakfast, and is also soliciting assistance/contributions from local business places.

Cumberbatch expressed thanks to all the individuals and business places who have made financial contributions (or in kind) so far, and is encouraging members of the public to patronize future events. Monetary donations will also be accepted.
