Keyboards donated to music programme at WSGSS

The West St George Secondary School has received a donation of two keyboards to advance their music programme.

According to a release, the donation came through the collaboration of the parliamentary representative Cecil Mckie, Robert McBarnett and the St Matthias Charities Inc (SMCI) of New York.{{more}}

This gesture is in keeping with a commitment made by the SMCI in 2014 to provide further support for the school in whatever way possible. At that time, SMCI donated a piano and several items of stationery, equipment and medical supplies to the school.

The school’s music programme started some eight years ago and they proudly boast of producing good vocal talent and good players of various musical instruments, which is reflected in the school’s band.

The West St George Secondary School recently celebrated its 10th anniversary of operation. Yet, despite its very short life, it has already made its mark in the constituency in which it is placed (West St George) and on the education landscape of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

This is reflected in its facilitation of moulding the lives of many more students from the constituency and its ranking in the top 10 secondary schools in St Vincent and the Grenadines, based on its in excess of 65 per cent pass rate in the 2014 external exams.

From inception, the school’s policy embraced the use of sports, culture, music and the arts as building blocks to supplement the academic side of the school’s growth and development. They have attained all with steady advances and achievements at all levels, across all disciplines.
