Anticipation high for Mayreau Regatta 2015

Organizers of the 2015 Mayreau Regatta are expecting one of the best events in recent times, especially with the contribution of telecommunications company LIME.{{more}}

As part of the donation to the highly anticipated event, LIME will be providing prizes to winners in various categories of competition set to take place during the four days of festivities.

The regatta begins today with the fishing competition, which will see fishermen from the Grenadine islands, as well as Grenada and Carriacou, testing their fishing skills against one another.

A traditional cooking competition, as well as a games night will take place, followed by the opening ceremony later in the evening.

On Friday, the lionfish will be the ones hunted, as the keenly contested lionfish derby takes place. Individuals will be rewarded for killing the largest lionfish, most lionfish and heaviest lionfish, among other categories.

Friday will also see persons participating in kite flying, maypole dancing, domino and basketball competitions, as well as a lionfish cooking competition.

Saturday will see the beginning of the sailboat races, as well as a number of onshore activities, including the All White Glow Party.

The sailboat races conclude on Sunday, with the curtain coming down later in the day with the closing ceremony, where prizes will be distributed.

Organizers say that they are grateful for the contribution LIME has made to the event, which has been building in popularity over the years.
