Local NGOs come to assistance of kidney patient

Three local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) have come to the assistance of kidney patient Ayana Findlay after the young entrepreneur expressed interest in obtaining a stove that would aid in the upgrade of her baking business.{{more}}

During a St Vincent and the Grenadines Chamber of Industry and Commerce (SVGCIC) cocktail at the Cruise Ship and Ferry Berth on Friday, December 19, Findlay said that in November 2014, executive director of Constructive Solution Inc, Ashley John invited her to a gathering to speak about her business and she mentioned that she needed a stove and an electric cake mixer.

“One of the entrepreneurs who attended the meeting donated a new electric mixer the following week, for which I remain extremely grateful. My father has a 30-inch stove, but it is almost my age and the oven door is not closing properly. I therefore travel to my grandparents’ home to bake. This eats into my profit. A new stove, therefore, will be most beneficial to my business,” said Findlay.

Findlay’s prayers for the new stove were answered at the December 19 cocktail, when the SVGCIC’s executive director Anthony Regisford surprised the young lady by telling her that telecommunications company LIME, the SVGCIC and appliance and furniture dealer Singer had invited her to the function to gift her a brand new stove.

Findlay, who was extremely moved by the gesture, said that she was extremely happy to receive the donation, as she is battling with kidney failure and sells homemade baked products to pay for her dialysis treatment.

Commenting, Regisford stated “…You did say you wanted a stove and Leslie Jack of LIME has decided to donate a significant part of the money to buy this stove and Singer gave a discount and the Chamber did the rest.”

Country manager at LIME Leslie Jack, who noted that he inspired by Findlay’s story, asked the other business people present to be supportive of Findlay in her struggle.
