Rider’s death huge loss to annual biking tradition – biking community

A member of the local biking community says that the death of Martiniquan Jeslin Emmanuel Gorearvia is a huge loss to the annual biking tradition.

Gorearvia, 51, died on Friday, following a road accident at Casson Hill, just outside Arnos Vale.

According to police reports, the deceased man was riding his motorcycle about 10:45 a.m. {{more}}travelling from Arnos Vale to Kingstown, behind a truck, license plate number TN 818, driven by Bertram Browne of North Union.

The police reports states that the motorcyclist proceeded to pass on the left side of the truck at the same time that the truck made a left turn.

At this point, the motorcycle and truck collided, causing Gorearvia and his bike to go under the truck, with the left rear wheel of the truck coming into contact with Gorearvia.

Gorearvia was taken to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, where he subsequently died.

The biking community member said that the Frenchman was a popular staple to the annual events, which sees motorcyclists from various Caribbean countries converge on St Vincent for a week of activities at the time of Independence.

The spokesperson said that Gorearvia was a very unique rider, since he performed his biking skills with a prosthetic leg.
