MCMH receives US$20,000 worth of medical equipment from SVG Brewery

The St Vincent Brewery Ltd has been praised by Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment Clayton Burgin for donating medical equipment, valued at US$20,000, to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.{{more}}

Last Tuesday, September 9, the Brewery handed over one fetal monitor, two plastic stint stretchers, three pulse oximeters, and one lifeline emergency cart to the Minister, at a ceremony held at the Nurses’ Hostel.

In thanking the Brewery, hospital administrator Grace Walters stated that the hospital suffered major losses during last December’s floods. She said the losses prompted a number of entrepreneurs and business places to come forward to ask how they could be of help.

According to Walters, these entities displayed patriotism at its best, which showed that St Vincent and the Grenadines is loved by its people. One of these business places was the St Vincent Brewery Ltd, which fulfilled its pledge of US$20,000 in medical equipment to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital. Walters expressed gratitude to the St Vincent Brewery Ltd for their donation and support.

Operations sales and marketing manager at the Brewery Shafia London-Williams stated that the donation of medical equipment to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital is the fulfillment of the St Vincent Brewery Ltd’s pledge to support the relief efforts.

According to London-Williams, the floods affected many areas where employees, family, friends, and customers of the St Vincent Brewery live and work. She said the well- being of the Vincentian people remains a priority for the St Vincent Brewery Ltd; thus, they have granted post-disaster support.

The Minister, in his response, said that the Brewery, in collaboration with the Ministry, has aided greatly with the donation of the equipment. He expressed gratitude to the St Vincent Brewery Ltd and to the staff of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, especially those who will use the equipment. Burgin reiterated that health care is a very expensive venture therefore he is always happy to receive aid towards the health and welfare of people of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
