SVGNCTI participates in ‘Broadband for Sustainable Development’ exhibition

The StVincent and the Grenadines National Centre of Technological Innovation (SVGNCTI) participated in the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD), which took place at Heritage Square Kingstown on Friday, May 16.

Various information and communication {{more}}technology (ICT) businesses had booths showcasing the products and services that they offered. The event started at 9 a.m. and concluded at 4 p.m.

The theme for the Expo was “Broadband for Sustainable Development” to highlight the developing ICT sectors in SVG. This is in accordance with NCTI’s mission statement of facilitating the expansion, strength and sustainability of the ICT sector, thus contributing to the socio-economic development of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The SVGNCTI is an institute of choice and a model for technical, professional career training in ICT. SVGNCTI will be celebrating 12 years of operation in August 2014; they first commenced operation as a department within the Ministry of Telecommunications, Science, Technology and Industry in 2002. The institution is currently offering computer courses, which include Introduction to Computers (ITC), International Computer Drivers License (ICDL), QuickBooks, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Net+ and much more.

They are also in their third year offering ABE Diploma Courses and also BCS IT Diploma and Certificate. SVGNCTI offers other services such as the Incubator Program, a business support process which assists businesses in becoming viable and efficient operations, by providing them with much needed support and services.

SVGNCTI is currently offering free computer and job readiness training for the unemployed, ages 16-30. Registration is $50.
