Return of ‘fast ferry’

The Jaden Sun will resume its services to the Grenadines this Friday, May 30.

According to a release, the fast ferry will be departing Kingstown at 10 a.m. and Union Island at 3:30 p.m.

However, because of the public holiday slated for June 9, persons are advised that there will be no departure{{more}} on June 8. Instead, the boat is scheduled to leave Kingstown on June 9 at 4 p.m.

This country’s lone fast ferry service had ceased operations in December 2013, when one of the vessel’s two engines broke down.

In early 2014, Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves indicated that the government would lend Jaden Inc US$100,000 through PetroCaribe to buy the needed engine.

During a press conference on May 19, Gonsalves informed media officials that the replacement engine had arrived and it was expected that ferry services would resume soon.(BK)
